President Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik has said that damaging public buildings is also an attack on the people.
The President made this remark while speaking to the people of Kaafu Himmafushi during a visit to the island as part of his current travels to two islands in the atoll.
Regarding the fire that burnt down the Himmafushi Island Council Office on the 10th of this month, the President said that it was a very serious matter, and conveyed his sympathies to the people of the island.
In his speech, the President said that burning down and destroying Island Council Office Buildings, Health Centers, and other public buildings causes a huge loss for the people of those islands. He expressed his hopes that the reconstruction of the building would begin soon.
In his speech, the President highlighted the infrastructure development needed in the islands of Maldives. He also said that the establishment of a sewerage system in Himmafushi would begin this year.
