Civil Court order to evaluate Hajj companies

The order by the Civil Court to the Ministry of Islamic Affairs to evaluate the proposals submitted by four companies regarding taking people to Hajj, has been appealed in High Court.

An official of the Attorney General’s Office said that the appeal case was filed to High Court yesterday.

The Civil Court said in its ruling that the Islamic Ministry acted against the policy on taking people to Hajj when it decided not to evaluate the proposals of Al Fat’h Hajj Private Limited, Al Manaasik Private Limited, Al Safaa Hajj and Umra Private Limited and Classic Hajj and Umra Private Limited.

The court ordered the Islamic Ministry to evaluate the four proposals and to grant the four companies the permission according to the policy on taking people to Hajj.

The State has argued that the four proposals were not evaluated because the people who delivered them did not carry any form of identification to indicate that they were representing the relevant companies.

The Civil Court ruling stated that the proposals were nonetheless accepted by an official of the Islamic Ministry.

The Civil Court further said that the State had said that the four companies’ proposals had not been accepted, and that the process of accepting them had been put on hold; however, the Islamic Ministry had not informed the four companies that their proposals had not been accepted or that the process of accepting them had been put on hold.
