Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP) has invited members to submit applications for its vacant posts, to which people will be elected at the party’s National Council meeting later this month.
At a press conference held tonight, Spokesperson of DRP Zeena Zahir said that the deadline for submitting applications is 14 April.
She said that at the National Council meeting, three members will be elected to the post of Deputy Leader, seven members will be elected from the public to the Council, and one member will be elected to the Behavioural Committee. Zeena said that in addition, Presidents and Vice Presidents will be elected to the Women’s Wing and Youth Wing.
She said that members in the atolls can send application forms via fax.
DRP will hold its National Council meeting from 23 to 25 April. It has been estimated that 800 to 900 members will attend the National Council meeting.
DRP has said that the main activity of the meeting would be to revise the party’s Basic Regulation. President of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom will remain as the Leader of DRP until its Basic Regulation is revised.
