A position for the Civil Service Commission (CSC) has been opened for application. A new member is to be selected to commission in place of the Commission’s President Mohamed Fahmy Hassan.
The parliament has announced for candidates interested in the position to submit their applications by the 21st of this month.
The applying candidate should be at least 30 years of age, must hold a graduate first degree, and must have at least 10 years experience or more in field of management. The person also must not have an Islamic Sharia conviction against him, and should not have a criminal conviction within the past five years.
The candidates will be reviewed by the Parliament Committee on Independent Institutions. The candidates who score more than 75 percent points from the review will be forwarded to the parliament floor for vote. The candidates will then be asked for vote in descending order of their score, and the first person to pass with majority vote will be appointed to the CSC.
The current president of CSC Mohamed Fahmy Hassan was deemed to have been proven of sexual misconduct by a parliamentary committee and subsequently removed from office after a vote by the parliament. Fahmy had however resumed office after Supreme Court declared that the parliament’s decision to remove him from office was unconstitutional. The parliament committee had however decided to appoint a new member to the CSC, stating that the Supreme Court ruling did not require Fahmy to be reinstated.
