The President’s Office has said that Raajje TV is not invited to the President’s events because Raajje TV does not present news according to the standards of the President’s Office.
Masood Imad, Media Secretary of the President’s Office, said in response to questions by members of the Parliament Committee on Oversight of the Government, that the President’s Office has a policy on inviting media to the President’s events.
He said that the policy of the President’s Office in this regard is to give the opportunity to responsible, experienced media stations, and that the stations that fit these criteria are TVM, DhiTV, VTV, Sun Online, Haveeru, Miadhu and Minivan News.
He said that arrangements have been made for media groups that are not invited to the events to obtain the information, and that this can be done through the website of the President’s Office and the Press Office.
Masood said that all media stations cannot be invited to trips made by the President, and that the purpose of this is to minimise costs. He said that only TVM is invited to cover the President’s trips.
Members of the committee requested Masood to provide the policy employed by the President’s Office in inviting media to events. Masood said that the policy will be sent to the committee tomorrow.
