High Court permits former president Nasheed to leave the country

Former President Mohamed Nasheed’s legal team has said that the High Court has granted permission for the former president to leave the country.

Member of Nasheed’s legal team Hissan Hussain said that the High Court has permitted Nasheed to leave the country from the 15th of this month, and that the permission was granted upon Nasheed’s request.

The purpose of Nasheed’s visit abroad is not yet clear.

High Court has scheduled the hearing for the case presented by Nasheed asking to declare that the Hulhumale’ bench of judges was assembled against the law, for 14:00 tomorrow afternoon.

High Court has also ordered the Hulhumale’ Court to halt all proceedings of the former president’s case until the High Court decides on the matter regarding the bench of judges.
