Minister of Defence Mohamed Nazim has refused to attend the parliament without wearing his Medal of Honour.
Nazim told Sun Online that it would be an injustice to persons who have served Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) for long periods, if he attends the parliament without wearing his Ribbon and Medal of Honour.
He said that the law allows him to wear the Ribbon and Medal of Honour conferred to him upon retirement from MNDF.
Nazim thus refused to attend places where he is not allowed to wear his Medal of Honour.
The vote of no-confidence against Nazim, submitted by MDP, could not be taken at yesterday’s parliament sitting. The sitting heated up after Nazim arrived at the parliament wearing his Medal of Honour on his suit.
