Wanted suspect for SHEESHA case arrested in Sri Lanka

A man suspected of stealing Rf 18 million from the account of Maldivian motorbike retailers SHEESHA has been arrested while in hiding in Sri Lanka.

Police informs that Ibrahim Shahid of Maafarivaage, B. Dhulhaadhoo was arrested today, and that he will arrive in Male’ tonight.

Shahid was first arrested by Maldivian Police without a warrant and released within 24 hours. The second attempt to arrest him after obtaining a court order was unsuccessful as he was no longer in the Maldives.

A Police Media Official said that Shahid was arrested in Sri Lanka through a special operation conducted in collaboration with Sri Lankan police.

Interpol had issued red notices in search of Ibrahim Shahid and two other suspects of this case. The other two men were arrested two months ago upon arrival at Male’ Airport on a Malaysia Airlines flight via Sri Lanka. They are Mohamed Musthafa of Goldstar and Mohamed Musthaumidh of Jamsareeruge of Sh. Lhaimagu.

The three brothers of SHEESHA have filed a case against SBI for transferring Rf 18 million from their accounts following the submission of forged documents.
