Police have said that they have started investigations regarding the Artur brothers, the two Armenian conmen accused of drug trafficking and other illegal activities in different countries around the world, who were recently reported to have entered the Maldives.
A police media official confirmed today that they have started investigations into the Artur brothers case, but did not reveal any details.
Police had earlier stated that they had informed the relevant government authorities regarding the Artur brothers in January this year.
Economic Ministry had revealed that a company was register in the Maldives 14th of August 2012 named Arthur Brothers World Connection Private Limited in which the two brothers Artur Sargsyan and Artur Margaryan held shares.
Registered with a licence to carry out tourism related businesses, the company lists 5 shareholders including a Maldivian, one Ismail Waseem of H. Ever Chance.
Along with the Artur brothers and one Maldivian, two French citizens, Godzine Sargsyan and Edga Sargsyan were listed as the other two shareholders.
While one of the Artur brothers held 61 percent of the shares, the other Artur brother helds 19 percent, one of the French citizens 10 percent of the shares, the other French citizen another 7 percent, and the Maldivian is listed to hold 3 percent company’s shares.
An official from the Economic Ministry had revealed that the 3 percent shares owned by Ismail Waseem was transferred to a one Abdulla Shaffath of H. Ever Peace on the 25th of November 2012.
