ISLAMABAD (AP) — Pakistan dropped veteran batsman Younis Khan on Sunday for the Champions Trophy later this year.
Khan scored only 116 runs in five one-day internationals as Pakistan lost 3-2 to South Africa in a recent series. He has played 253 ODIs and scored 7,014 runs with six centuries at an average of 31.88, but his last ODI hundred came against West Indies in November 2008 at Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The selectors have kept Shahid Afridi in a probable list of 30, but it will be difficult for the enigmatic allrounder to make the final squad after he failed to take a wicket in the five ODIs against South Africa.
Pakistan is in Group B with West Indies, South Africa and India for the Champions Trophy in Britain from June 6-23.
