Police displays history corner in National Museum

A corner of the National Museum has been designated to display artifacts used by Maldives Police during their 80 year long history.

The corner was inaugurated by Commissioner of Police Abdulla Riyaz today as part of a celebratory event to mark the organization’s 80th anniversary. The opening ceremony also saw the publishing a book named “80 years of service”. The book was launched by Home Minister Dr. Mohamed Jameel, and highlights some of the important developments of the police service during the past 80 years.

The police corner at the National Museum displays a number of artifacts, writing and pictures including some of the uniforms used by policemen, cameras, walkie-talkies and other such communication devices, documents showing past police regulations and pictures and videos of some of the major operations undertaken by the organization.

The book “80 years of service” details the beginning of the police service and a number of services they had provided during the past 80 years. It also contains biographies of some of the officers who had held high ranks in the organization.
