ISRO successfully launched the next-generation navigation satellite, "NVS-03," into space, October 31, 2026.
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has successfully launched the next-generation navigation satellite, "NVS-03," into space in an effort to further strengthen the country's indigenous navigation system.
The satellite was launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota on Friday night at 11:51 PM. ISRO's "GSLV-F18" rocket was utilized for this mission. The agency confirmed that the 2,250-kg satellite successfully separated from the launch vehicle and entered its intended Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO).
Following this achievement, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated ISRO's scientists and engineers. In a post on the social media platform X, Modi stated that this mission marks an important step toward strengthening India's indigenous navigation system, "NavIC," and advancing the nation's self-reliance in critical technologies. He also highlighted that these navigation services would broadly benefit the people of the country.
"NVS-03" is the third satellite in ISRO's next-generation navigation satellite series. Launched to maintain and upgrade the services under the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS), also known as "NavIC," the satellite features an indigenously developed atomic clock and the enhanced addition of the L1 frequency signal.
