Attempt to escape after snatching pedestrian

A dangerous accident has occurred tonight when a motorcycle carrying two people collided with a car, after the duo on the motorcycle snatched a bag from a pedestrian and attempted to flee the scene.

The incident took place at around 9.40 pm, when the two people on the motorcycle snatched a bag from a girl walking near Galolhu Madhrasaa and ran into a car near UN Building.

An eyewitness said that the people on the motorcycle swerved to avoid impact with the car but collided with it on its left side. The motorcycle then lost control and ran into about nine parked motorcycles, causing serious damage. The people on the motorcycle, however, immediately got up and fled the scene. It is not known if they were hurt in the accident.

The police said that one person had been arrested tonight for trying to escape after snatching a bag. According to the police, the accident occurred when the motorcycle collided with the parked motorcycles and not with a car.

Sun reporters, upon arrival at the scene, saw the bag-snatchers’ sandals, a wallet and a knife lying on the street. The area has now been cordoned off by the police.
