Contractor for the development of Funadhoo Airport has been selected: President

The President’s Office has said that the government has selected a contractor for the development of Shaviyani Funadhoo Airport.

A statement issued by the President’s Office states that efforts are currently under way to award the project to the party that won the bid. The name of the party that won the bid has, however, not yet been revealed.

The President’s Office said that the airport project will broaden the scope for development of tourism in the region, and that the government’s aim is to ensure that the atoll receives all services. In his speech when he visited Funadhoo last year, the President assured the people of the island of the government’s commitment to realise the people’s aspirations.
