Govt. holds discussions with tourism experts on increasing arrivals

The government has held discussions with tourism industry experts on Monday.

The government was represented by Finance Minister Hassan Zareer, Tourism Minister Mohamed Ameen, Attorney General Ahmed Usham, and Commissioner General of Taxation Fathimath Ameeza.

Key industry figures in attendance included Hussain Afeef, a pioneer of Maldivian tourism industry and Chairman of Crown Group; Ahmed Siyam Mohamed, Chairman of Sun Siyam Group and Member of Parliament for the Meedhoo constituency; and Siyad Qasim, Managing Director of Villa Group.

According to the Tourism Ministry, the discussions primarily focused on increasing tourist arrivals and developing strategies to achieve the growth targets set for the upcoming year.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to identify key challenges currently facing the tourism sector and explore practical solutions to address them.

The Ministry stated that, based on recommendations put forward by industry experts and leaders, several key milestones were identified and agreed upon for future implementation.

During the meeting, the ministers reaffirmed the administration of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s commitment to maintaining close and collaborative engagement with stakeholders across the tourism industry.
