Met Office: Rainy weather across the country on Thursday with mildly rough seas

Maldives Meteorological Service (Met Office) has forecast widespread rainfall across the country on Thursday, with rough seas expected in the northern and central atolls.

According to the forecast, which remains valid until 18:00pm this evening, scattered showers are expected across the archipelago, with some islands likely to experience thunderstorms.

Met Office reported that winds across the southern atolls will generally blow from the south and southwest at speeds of five to 15 mph. In other parts of the country, winds are expected to reach speeds of between 13 and 23 mph.

Met Office also warned that winds may gust to 35 mph during showers. 

While seas in the southern atolls are expected to range from slight to moderate, conditions will remain generally rough elsewhere. Wave heights are forecast to reach two to four feet in the south and three to six feet across the northern and central atolls.

Amid the prevailing adverse weather conditions, the public has been advised to take necessary precautions and remain vigilant against potential incidents.
