Szczesny sorry for father's comments on Arsenal

LONDON (AP) — Wojciech Szczesny has criticized his father for making disparaging comments about Arsene Wenger following the Arsenal manager's decision to drop the goalkeeper after a spell of poor form.

Maciej Szczesny reportedly told Polish newspaper Przegald Sportowy that Wenger has used the goalkeeper as a scapegoat for the club's underwhelming season and accused the French manager of playing him when he wasn't fully fit last season.

The younger Szczesny, who is currently on international duty with Poland, released a statement on Arsenal's website apologizing for his father's comments and saying "I cannot accept them as I find them disrespectful to the club I truly love."

Szczesny was dropped for Arsenal's past two games, with compatriot Lukasz Fabianski taking his place and keeping clean sheets away to Bayern Munich and Swansea.
