Ahmed Eelaf Nadeem is writing a new chapter in the history of Maldivian martial arts. Flying the national flag in the international Muay Thai ring and winning gold medals, Eelaf recently competed in the Pro Muay Thai Championships in Sri Lanka, securing his second international gold medal to the delight of the entire nation.

Eelaf has been passionate about martial arts and combat sports since childhood. He laid the foundation for his fitness and Muay Thai career at FightSoul Maldives and Maldives Muay Thai Academy. Head coach Mohamed Shanaz played a major role in shaping Eelaf into an athlete capable of competing at the international level. Under Shanaz’s guidance, Eelaf completed a long period of intensive training and made significant progress in the ring.

Eelaf won the gold medal in the middleweight 76kg category at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) in Sri Lanka. He faced Sri Lanka’s experienced fighter Isur, but with courage, strategy and composure, Eelaf dominated the bout and claimed a historic victory.

This is the second consecutive year Eelaf has won gold at the Pro Muay Thai Championships. His victory is the result of months of hard training and unwavering determination. Before the tournament, the Maldivian athletes completed a special training camp in Sri Lanka.

Eelaf, trained by Maldivian Muay Thai coach Mohamed Shanaz, and Daniel Ahmed Zaki, who competed in the same team, were coached in Sri Lanka by Wimukithi Abenayaka of Vanquish Muay Thai and Fitness. Daniel also delivered an impressive performance, fighting Sri Lanka’s Fahad fiercely until the final minute.

Eelaf’s latest gold medal adds to his growing list of achievements. In February this year, he defeated one of Sri Lanka’s top athletes to win his first Muay Thai gold medal.

Ahmed Eelaf Nadeem’s tireless efforts prove that with proper training, discipline and opportunity, Maldivian athletes can win gold medals in world-class rings.
