ACC files case against Supreme Court Secretary General

The Anti-Corruption Commission has requested that charges be pressed against Supreme Court Secretary General Aniya Abdul Gafoor of Ma. Leggi, for providing false statements in an investigation carried out by the commission.

ACC said in a statement yesterday that it investigated a complaint submitted to the commission, regarding an employee of Supreme Court being threatened with dismissal if he refused to provide a statement allegedly required by ACC.

ACC said that Aniya’s case had been sent to Prosecutor General’s (PG) Office for prosecution because while she had indicated in her statement that she was following the orders of two senior officials of the Department of Judicial Administration, this claim was denied by the two officials. ACC said that Aniya is thus suspected of having tried to misinform the commission.
