President meets with Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar

President Dr Mohamed Waheed, who is currently on an official visit to Qatar, has met with the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabr Al-Thani.

The meeting was held yesterday evening at the Prime Minister’s Office.

During the meeting, the President briefed the Prime Minister on the socio-economic progress of the Maldives, as well as the challenges faced by the country in this area. He also talked about the recent measures taken by the goverment to enhance opportunities for foreign investors.

The Prime Minister assured the President that the Qatari Government is committed to working with the government of Maldives to increase more Qatari investment in Maldives. He further said that increased investment from Qatar would bring the two nations closer and help to further strengthen ties between the two countries.

The President also met with Minister of Finance and Economy of Qatar, Mr Yousef Hussain Kamal this morning. Discussions were held during the meeting on ways to ensure closer cooperation between the two countries in economic and financial sectors.
