Fisheries Ministry has announced a specialized training program aimed at enhancing technical expertise and strengthening capacity in the reef fish hatchery sector.

The initiative, ‘Marine Hatchery Skills Development Program’ is being implemented in a collaborative effort between the Ministry and the Maldives Marine Research Institute (MMRI).

According to the Ministry, the program forms an integral part of the government's broader efforts to modernize the fisheries industry, support economic diversification, and create new career opportunities for interested individuals. This is the second training session of its kind to be conducted this year.

As outlined in the announcement in the government gazette, the program will accommodate 15 participants and is scheduled to run from August 8 to August 20.

The 14-day training course will be held at K. Maniyafushi. Participants will receive full government support throughout the program, including accommodation, meals, and return transportation between Malé and Maniyafushi.

Individuals interested in participating are required to submit the application form provided in the gazette announcement, along with a copy of their national identity card. Applications may be submitted directly to the Maldives Marine Research Institute or sent via email to [email protected].

The Ministry further stated that should the number of applicants exceed the 15 available places, participants will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis.
