Former Director of Police Intelligence Sabra Ibrahim Noordeen (photo) was released from her arrest for suspicion of assault yesterday, after being handed a chit to present herself to the police station.
A Police media official said today that Sabra was released sometime last night, and that she was handed a chit summoning her to the police station with regard to an ongoing investigation in which she was the accused.
Sabra’s father Ibrahim Noordeen said that Sabra was arrested under a court order at 10:03 pm last night at the airport after she came back from abroad via Colombo.
The order by the Criminal Court to arrest Sabra stated that the police accuse her of obstructing police duty and assault on the police at the intersection of Majeedhee Magu and Neelofaruhingun on the day of former President Nasheed’s arrest to be produced to the Hulhumale’ Court.
Sarbra’s father told Sun today that her daughter has principles and that she does not resolve to assault and violence. He said that “they have now forced us on the streets too.”
Noordeen said that Sabra’s passport has also been withheld.
Sabra Noordeen is related by family to former President Mohamed Nasheed and former Commissioner of Police Ahmed Faseeh.
