Sun Siyam Media (SS Media) has been appointed as the official broadcasting partner of the Cricket Board of Maldives (CBM) for the current year.
Under the partnership, SSTV will provide live coverage of the finals of several major tournaments scheduled for this year, in addition to the annual “Cricket Night” ceremony.
The agreement was signed during a ceremony held at SS Media on Sunday with Chief Executive Officer Mohamed Asif (Mondhu) signing on behalf of SS Media and CBM’s President Mohamed Faisal signing on behalf of the association.
The collaboration aims to enhance the popularity of cricket in the Maldives and expand the sport’s reach to audiences nationwide. Both parties described the partnership as an important initiative aimed at supporting the development of cricket in the Maldives.
As part of the agreement, SSTV will broadcast live coverage of the finals of six major official tournaments included in the CBM calendar. These include the T20 Premier League final featuring the country’s leading clubs, the President’s Cup final, and the T20 Championship final.
SSTV will also air the T10 Blast final, the Inter-Resort Tape Ball Tournament final for participants from the tourism industry, and the Under-16 National T20 Championship final, which highlights emerging young talent in the sport.
Additionally, “Cricket Night” — regarded as the premier annual event in the local cricket calendar, where the year’s top performers are recognized and honored — will also be broadcast live nationwide.
As part of the partnership, the Cricket Board has further facilitated opportunities for SSTV to expand its coverage and engagement with cricket-related activities.
This marks the first formal agreement between SS Media and the Cricket Board of Maldives. Since the beginning of the year, Sun Siyam Media has provided live coverage of numerous tournaments and sporting events across the Maldives, and has committed to continue expanding such broadcasts throughout the remainder of the year.
