Former Commissioner of Police Ahmed Faseeh has said that former Defence Minister Tholhath Ibrahim Kaleyfaan had said that the president had asked to arrest Chief Judge of Criminal Court Abdullah Mohamed, and that the request was thus carried out.

Faseeh said this in court today while providing his testimony against Tholhath.

Faseeh said that Tholhalth said this at a meeting held at the Police Office on 16 January 2012.

“Tholhath said that the president had asked to arrest Chief Judge of Criminal Court Abdullah Mohamed, and so it was done that way,” Faseeh said.

Faseeh said that he was asked by former Home Minister Hassan Afeef during the meeting if Chief Judge of Criminal Court Abdullah Mohamed could be arrested, to which he had replied that the judge can only be arrested under an order by High Court.

Former Deputy Commissioner of Police Ismail Atheef also presented his testimony in court today.

Atheef said that the police had not been involved in the arrest of Judge Abdullah. He said that he did join some meetings held prior to the arrest, but could not recall if any discussion related to the arrest of Judge Abdullah had taken place during those meetings.

Before concluding the session, Judge Shujau Usman scheduled the next trial proceeding for Tuesday and said that additional witness statements will be presented then.
