MSPA to host special ceremony on Thursday to honor Karnataka Film Festival award winners

The Maldives Society for Performing Arts (MSPA) will hold a special ceremony on Thursday evening to honor the Maldivian winners of the 5th Karnataka International Film Festival (KIFF).

The event, held in collaboration with the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC), will also include the announcement of MSPA’s second acting workshop.

Awards won by Maldivian productions at KIFF will be formally presented during the ceremony, which will take place at the Indian Cultural Centre in Male'.

Two Maldivian films received recognition at this year’s festival.  

‘Kamana’ won three major awards in the feature film category: Best Director, Best Lead Actor, and Best Lead Actress.

The Best Director award went to Hussain Munawwar, while Yusuf Shafeeu (Yuppe) won Best Lead Actor and Mariyam Azza won Best Lead Actress.

DarkRain Entertainment’s ‘November’ also secured the Best Cinematographer award, shared by Ali Shifau and Ahmed Shinan.

MSPA facilitated the participation of Maldivian films in the Karnataka International Film Festival. The association continues to be one of the most active organizations in the Maldives working to promote the entertainment and performing arts sector.
