Police issue video seeking four people for creating violence during yesterday

Police have exposed a video in search of four people who created violence and threw bricks at the Police during yesterday’s protests, staged by Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) in defiance to the arrest of former President Mohamed Nasheed.

The 1 minute 47 second long video shows the protest taking place near Male’ City Council, where three protesters collect pavement bricks from near the cycles parked at the side of the road, and hurling the bricks at the police. The video also shows protesters running from the police, and a protester chasing another man and assaulting him.

Police have said that they will provide the necessary protection to those who provide information about the four people they seek, and thanked the public for their cooperation in their search for such perpetrators.

“If you have any information regarding the four people, please call Maldives Police Service Investigation Department number 9631696 or the Maldives Police Service hotline 3322111 at the soonest possible convenience. The necessary protection will be provided to whoever provides the information regarding these four people,” the police statement read.
