A Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) employee who fell into the sea after suffering a seizure while at work has died while receiving treatment.
MPL reported that the employee fell into the sea after suffering a seizure. The company detailed he was pulled out from the sea and taken to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), where he died while undergoing treatment.
The incident took place at approximately 10:46am this morning.
MPL identified the deceased employee as 30-year-old Ameen Abdul Hameed, Dhekonuge, GA. Dhevvadhoo.
Maldives Police Service said Ameen fell between two tug boats after suffering from a seizure. Citing doctors, the Police added that he had already been deceased when transported to the hospital.
MPL conveyed condolences to Ameen's family on behalf of all its employees.
The incident is under further investigation by the Police.
