66 youths who applied for technical training after completing basic training under the National Service Program have departed for MNDF’s training centre in B. Kihaadhoo on Thursday.

Their departure was announced by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu via a post on X.

In this regard, the President stated that 66 youths who applied for technical training after completing their basic training under the National Service Program departed for the MNDF’s training centre in B. Kihaadhoo on Thursday.

They include youths between the ages of 16 and 19 from 35 islands across the Maldives, the President added. The President detailed that the youths will get the opportunity to receive technical training in a wide range of areas. 

344 students graduated after completing basic training under the National Service Program on December 28th.

Presenting the course report, Lt. Col. Mohamed Shafiu, Chief Instructor at the National Service Training Centre at Lh. Maafilaafushi, stated that 350 students from 108 islands had enrolled in the program. The batch comprised 64 female and 286 male students, with an average age of 18.

Shafiu explained that the training covered a wide range of subjects, including nationalism and responsible citizenship, language proficiency, leadership, Islamic studies, physical fitness, watermanship drills, first aid, firefighting, self-defense, and camp activities. These topics were taught by MNDF instructors as well as experts from relevant government ministries.

 

The National Service Programme is a flagship initiative of President Muizzu, designed to develop a strong and capable youth through structured training and education. Key objectives of the program include fostering nationalism and pride among young people, nurturing a citizenry committed to Islam, and preparing youth to serve the nation effectively during major threats or disasters.
