Road construction in A.Dh. Maamigili has resumed after years of delays, with renovation work officially relaunched on Tuesday. The project was inaugurated by Minister of Housing Dr. Abdulla Muthalib.

Maamigili’s roads were first paved and modernised in 2018 under the administration of former President Abdulla Yameen. During the following administration of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, the Road Development Corporation (RDC) was contracted to complete the remaining work within 14 months. However, the project stalled and remained incomplete for years.

Speaking to Sun on Tuesday, the Maamigili Council said the work had not fully stopped but had progressed at a very slow pace.

RDC has now been re‑awarded the contract to complete the remaining road development works on the island.
