A young Maldivian contestant has captured the attention of the judges on the third season of Sri Lanka’s Got Talent.

10‑year‑old Mariyam Rubyn Muaz performed on the show aired by Sri Lanka’s Sirasa TV, singing Roar by Katy Perry. Her performance, posted on the show’s official YouTube channel on Saturday, drew strong praise from the judging panel.

Judge Danu Innasitambi said he was very pleased with Rubyn’s performance, while judge Stephanie Sirivadena described her as having a “beautiful, rich, textured voice.”

Rubyn’s mother, Fathimath Hamna, told Sun that Rubyn received the opportunity to participate through the Sri Lankan High Commission. With votes from all four judges, she has now advanced to the second round of the competition.

Rubyn comes from a musical family, her father, Hussain Muaz, is a singer, and her aunt, Aishath Inaya, is a well‑known musician in Maldives. Rubyn has previously performed in several competitions, including the school children’s song competition and the show Eh Handhaanuga.

Hamna said Rubyn often sings at home with her family and currently attends vocal classes in Sri Lanka to prepare for the competition.

“The judges’ comments were so good, and she was so confident. I’m very proud,” Hamna said.

As Rubyn awaits the next round, many Maldivians have been cheering her on, celebrating the chance to see a Maldivian child succeed on an international stage.
