Detention period for person accused of attacking Aswad extended by 15 days

The detention period for the person arrested accused of attacking the Raajje TV journalist Ibrahim Waheed (Aswad) has been extended by 15 days.

Sun is now certain that the person arrested for the attack on Waheed is; Ahmed Vishan of M. Kerin Light Uthuruge, 21 years of age. His detention period was extended after being presented to the Criminal Court last night.

Sun has also come to know that Vishan was arrested by the Police in light of information they received following an announcement made in search for Vishan. He was arrested yesterday from M. Kerin Light.

Ibrahim Waheed sustained serious injuries after being attacked in the head with iron rod while he was travelling on a motorcycle in Boduthakurufaanu Magu near Artificial Beach on Friday night. He is currently being treated in Sri Lanka.

Police have started a special operation to investigate the attack on Waheed.
