Umar Naseer submits form to contest in primary

Interim Vice President of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) Umar Naseer has submitted the form to contest in the upcoming primary election of the party, to elect a candidate to represent PPM in the upcoming presidential election.

PPM Spokesperson Ahmed Saleem (Maaz Saleem) said that Umar submitted the form at around 3:15 pm today.

He said that a plan has been drawn up for Umar’s campaign, and that Umar will travel to the atolls as part of his campaign.

Umar’s rival in the primary is PPM Parliamentary Group Leader Abdullah Yameen. It is not yet known if Yameen has submitted the form to contest in the primary.
