MACI awarded 4000 square feet of land in Male

The Government has awarded a piece of land of 4000 square feet to Maldives Association of Construction Industry (MACI) for the construction of the association\'s building.

At a function held in Trader’s Hotel last night, the handover agreement of Male’ plot number 392 was signed, on behalf of the government by Housing Minister Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and the President of MACI Mohamed Ali Janah (Janaa) on behalf of association.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mohamed Ali Janah said that ever since MACI was formed, the organization has requested the different governments that came into power to give them a piece of land, and that this piece of land will be used to construct a 10 story building. He said that the building will be utilized to conduct an array of training programs to train people for the industry.

“It is a difficult task for an organization like ours to construct such a building and conduct it in a sustainable manner. We have planned to use a number of financial models for the construction of the building,” said Janah.

He said that the building will be designed within a year, and that the construction work is forecasted to finish to a level of operation within 30 months.

Speaking at the ceremony, Housing Minister Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said that the building will facilitate for a number of construction needs. He said that the building is planned to be built inside the Ministry compound and that the Ministry itself will be able to utilize 3 floors from the building once it is completed.

In addition to awarding the plot to MACI, the function also saw the agreement signing for the establishment of an employer’s federation. The six organization that signed for the establishment the federation were; Maldives Association of Construction Industry, Maldives Association of Tourism Industry, Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators, Maldives Association of Yacht Agents, Restaurant Association and Live Aboard Association.
