Cultural festivities to the streets of Malé

Ministry of Youth and Sports has said that their festivities for the Eid ul-Fitr, Cultural Eid, organized in association with a number of organizations, will begin at Rasfannu this evening.

An official from the Ministry told Sun Media that the festivities are set to begin at 4:15 p.m. at Rasfannu and continue down Majeedhee Magu with a display near the Olympus cinema.

A number of traditional cultural performances are set to be include in the Youth Ministry's Cultural Eid this evening including a tradition "Dhandijehun", a dance performed with sticks, by the Kelaa Dhandi Group and "Boduberu" performances (traditional drums) by Faiymini Boduberu Group.

The Ministry said that the Cultural Eid event is being held by the support of a lot endorsers including Litus, State Trading Organization (STO), Police Club, Thilafushi Corporation, Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) Hope for Women and Redwave.

Traditional cultural performances, especially at a large scale, have been very scarce in the capital Malé City in the recent years.
