12-day remand for suspects in magistrate motorcycle fire

The people arrested in relation to the fire set on the motorcycle of the Magistrate, Hassan Didi of the Gaafu Alifu Kanduhulhudhoo Magistrate Court has been remanded by 12 days.

Police arrested two men of the ages 22 and 30 in relation to the fire set to the motorcycle around 5 a.m. Thursday morning while it was parked in front of the Kanduhulhudhoo mosque.

Sources say the fire spread to the adjacent motorcyle, which belongs to the Leading Teacher at the island's school, Ashraf Abdulla.

A witness to the crime has given a statement to the police identifying the two suspects according to sources.

A group of people gathered at the residence of the Magistrate last night protesting the arrest of the two people.
