Bicycle network to be established in Kudafari

Noonu Atoll Kudafari Island Council has initiated a project to establish a bicycle network on the island.

Vice President of the the Kudafari Island Council, Jazlan Adam told Sun Media today that the bicycle network would allow the people of the island to use bicycles whenever they want.

He said that the purpose of the network is to reduce the number of motorized vehicles on the island and to make Kudafari an environmentally friendly island.

The bicycle network, once established would have a number bicycles kept at set locations on the island. And the people are free to use it whenever they want. The Island Council said that they intend to provide the service for free.

Kudafari Island Council said that the bicycles needed for the project have been donated by the nearby resort, Sonevaa Journey.

“Now we have received 15 bicycles. Remaining 15 bicycles we will receive very soon. To keep these bicycles, the council is working to build parkingzones.” Vice President of the the Kudafari Island Council, Jazlan Adam said.

With a population of 820, the Kudafari Council said that there has been massive support from the people of the island for the project and wishes for the service to be introduced as soon as possible.
