A boat on land in B. Kamadhoo has caught fire.
While the Police have confirmed the fire on the boat, they said that the fire has now been controlled.
As the Police are now on their way to the island, the fire is being extinguished by the firemen of Four Seasons Resort nearby.
President of the Kamadhoo Island Council, Ali Ismail told Sun Media that the fire started today on a boat that has not been used for about eight years.
Although the fire on the 90-foot boat has been controlled, the boat has been completely burned beyond any use.
“This is a very dangerous incident. This area has a lot of beached boats. So if the fire had spread, it would be more dangerous.” Ismail said.
The Island Council says that the fire was controlled with the efforts from the firemen of the Four Seasons Resort and the people of the island.
No one was injured in the fire although the trees in the area were burnt.
The fire took place about 100 feet outside the inhabited area of the island according the Island Council.
Police are now investigating the fire.
