MNDF: It was not a bomb near STELCO

MNDF has said that what was found on the vehicle parked on the corner of Dhonadharaa Magu and Ameenee Magu was not a bomb.

Captain Ali Ihsaan of MNDF said that the suspected bomb was in fact a bundle of wires.

He said that following the report to MNDF, the bomb squad checked the car near the STELCO. He said that it was a bundle of electrical wires inside the bonnet of the car.

The MNDF Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was active at the scene after closing a down a large area. After an hour, the team concluded that it was not an explosive.

While ehe EOD team went to the scene with safety tools and was confirming what it was, people were gathering in the area. But the Police and MNDF had strengthened security and closed off the area to vehicles and pedestrians alike.
