Mohamed Allaam Latheef’s lawyer, Husnu Suood has said that the weapons found in the lagoon of B. Hibalhidhoo by the Police and MNDF have no connection to his client.

Talking to the media today, Lawyer Suood said that the weapons have no connection to Allaam and he knows no information about them.

Suood said that Allaam is ready to cooperate with the Police in their investigation and he is by no means in hiding.

When asked where Allaam is at this time and if he is going to obey the order by the National Inquiry Commission, Suood said that he has not been able to get that information since he has not been in direct contact with him.

“Allaam says that he will respond. I was not contacted directly. I was contacted through someone else’s phone. Even I don’t know where he is.” Suood said.

He said that according to Allaam, he is wanted not because he had any part in it but due to his friendship with Vice President Adheeb.

Suood said that while some of the weapons showed by the Police yesterday were from the MNDF armory, they cannot reach to Allaam.

At the press conference last night, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Abdulla Navaaz said that Allaam is very important to the investigation.
