Sea swells flood Maabaidhoo

Sea swells have flooded L. Maabaidhoo.

The flooding began at noon today from the east side of the island. The water has spread about a 1000 feet into the island. But no houses were affected by the water.

Member of the Maabaidhoo Island Council, Hassan Adhil said that the people are in a cautionary state expecting more sea swells past midnight tonight. And so the people living on the eastern side are preparing sandbags to protect their houses.

Councilor Adhil said that affected area of the island is the new real-estate area and is being used for farming and the plantation in the area has been damaged in the flood.

L. Maamendhoo was also affected by sea swells today causing waters to coming from the West and South side of the islands. But the water did not come inland.
