Fishing picks up, 900 tons of fish weighed in August alone

Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO)’s statistics show that fishing has picked up, with more than 900 tons of fish weighed by Koodoo in August alone.

The statistics show that 912 tons of fish from 547 fishing boats had been weighed by Koodoo, with more than one week remaining in August.

Fishing was most productive this month in August 20, with 103 tons of fish weighed by Koodoo.

More than 134,000 kilos of yellowfin tuna were weighed last week, along with 287,000 kilos of skipjack tuna caught through pole-and-line fishing, 23,000 kilos of grouper, and more than 10,000 kilos of bigeye tuna.

Fishing has picked up in general throughout the country, but especially in M. Atoll.
